Outdoor Echelon® Guideline Compliant | Outdoor Water Warrior Cables
Windy City Wire’s SmartWire® outdoor portfolio supports demanding commercial and industrial projects that require dependable low-voltage performance in harsh environments. Whether you are building a resilient Echelon control network across a campus or running long OSP outside plant pathways between facilities, our outdoor wire and cable options are engineered to resist moisture, UV exposure, and physical stress while maintaining signal integrity and uptime.
Outdoor Echelon guideline compliant constructions help integrators deploy reliable, noise-resistant control networks across buildings and sites. Our Outdoor Water Warrior cables focus on moisture defense, using water-blocking components and tough, sunlight-resistant jackets for direct-burial and conduit applications where temperature swings and standing water can challenge performance. The result is a practical set of outdoor cable solutions that install cleanly, pull efficiently, and support long service life in real-world conditions.

Both are 75-ohm coaxial cables, but RG6 has a larger center conductor and thicker dielectric for lower attenuation, supporting higher frequencies and longer runs—ideal for satellite/cable TV and broadband. RG59 has a smaller center conductor and higher loss, making it best for shorter runs and baseband video (e.g., some CCTV). RG6 commonly offers heavier shielding options to reduce interference, while RG59 is more flexible for tight bends.
BACnet is a building automation protocol that can run over multiple physical layers; the MS/TP variant uses RS-485 twisted pair, while BACnet/IP uses Ethernet. RS-232 is a single-ended, point-to-point serial interface for short distances and low speeds—typically a 3-conductor cable and not suited for multi-drop networks. RS-485 is a balanced, differential bus that supports multi-drop topologies, longer distances, and higher noise immunity—typically a 120-ohm twisted pair (often shielded) and commonly used for BACnet MS/TP, Modbus, and other automation networks.
